Hey guys, I have a surging in speed when I am at half to WOT, kind of like letting off the gas and then getting right back on it. After reading some threads here I have tried a few things. I cleaned and inspected the fuel selector, O ring seems good and tight. Cleaned fuel water separator filter. Tried pulling out the choke and it loads up, ran it with gas cap off and still had surging. I replaced the fuel lines earlier this summer and ran a few tanks of gas through it before the surging started. The ski doesn't have a lot of hours on it, so my question is do I need to rebuild the carbs or can I clean the filters and be good to go? Thanks guys.

I would go ahead and rebuild them. You’re going to have to pull them to clean the filters anyway, so you might as well cover your bases and just rebuild them. 90% of the time bogging/surging issues are caused by either carb issues or air leaks on these things, so just bite the bullet and pick up two genuine Mikuni carb kits with new needles and seats. DO NOT BUY AFTERMARKET KITS! They cause problems 99% of the time, so they’re a waste of money...

Also, I would recommend picking up a new fuel selector switch. I know you cleaned it, but they’re inexpensive, and the internals in those things really don’t like solvents. Normally when you clean one, especially with something like carb cleaner, the little rubber seals start drying out and if you didn’t have an air leak at the selector, you do afterwards.

Thanks for the confirmation, always hope the fix will be easy, I will get some parts ordered up.

Update...I bought the "back to OEM" carb kits from OSD, it came with needle and seat, with the right spring, followed Mikidymac 's thread and the ski is running like a champ again! Thanks for taking the time to post the AWESOME step by step instructions for the rebuild Mikidymac!!
