97 spx quits after about 10 min

My 97 spx will run fine and all speeds for about ten min and then it just shuts off. will start back a couple of times and then wont do anything but turn over, no fire. i have replaced all the gray lines also. the last time i tried riding it was beginning of last year, and while i was riding it is started to bog down a little and i pulled the front cylinder spark plug wire off just a little bit and i had power back, until it quit completely again. so i guess its a two part question, are these related and where would i start looking once it does quit.

Hi,

Just for kicks lets try the old KISS theory. Unscrew the spark plug boots, cut off 1/4" of the spark plug cable, reinstall the boots.

i'd start off with a fresh set of plugs and try that, then what lou said, and then test the coil.

ok, ive done both the plugs and cut the wires. I ran it out of the water with the hose going and ran it for a 15 min variable throttle let it sit for 30 and ran it for another 15. no problems yet. i will try to put it in the water tomorrow and will see what happens.

fyi do not run on the hose more than 5 min. you'll damage stuff like the toasting the pump bearings.
