Just got my SPX out of winter storage. I figured now is a good time to nice-ify it as there is a temporary 5mph speed limit on the water because of the high water levels (the marina building has 8 inches of water INSIDE the building). I have a few questions:
1. Is this ski supposed to beep when the key is placed on it? It never has for me, but it's always started right up and ran fine. Until recently I just thought it was designed without a beeper
2. Any good way to restore the yellow color to the plastic hood? It's all faded out and white-tinted
3. Any way to remove black spots from the yellow handlebar covers? I assume this is probably mold of some sort, but no amount of soap or scrubbing has been able to get rid of it so far.
4. Has anyone converted these skis to a finger-throttle instead of a thumb-throttle, like the Sea-Doo Sparks have? I have a friend with an enzyme condition that messes with his joints. He can't use thumb-throttles, but he can use finger-throttles. It would be great to be able to get him out on the water with me!
I plan on getting jet-trim floor mats and new reg numbers for the sides (previous owner wrote some of them in with black sharpie...). Also, I have a DIY speedometer that I made with an Arduino and GPS module, if I can find a clean-looking way to install it I'll make another post to show of my creation.
