97 Seadoo Xp engine rebuild

Just looking to see if anybody has experience rebuilding a seadoo XP engine. I found a 97 Seadoo XP in very good shape except the engine needs rebuilt, the owner says it can be done for $300 but he doesn't have time and wants it gone, selling for $600. What am I getting myself into if I buy it? Can it be done reasonably? I have a 96 seadoo that I find very easy to work on but haven't had to do anything major. Any info is appreciated. Of course the owner says that. It I was buying the ski, I would plan for at least $1k, for a rebuilt engine and the extras needed to install it. More if you rebuild carbs, change fuel lines etc.
