97 seadoo xp 787 sucking water?

It probably means it has taken in water into the cylinders from the intake. Does it have the stock set up or after market flame arrestors?

As far as what damage can occur, if properly taken care of, it could be fine.

If it took a gulp of water and it was left in there, you don't want to know...

It does have everything stock. Other than runing the engine without the plugs in, is their anything else I can do?
Also, COULD their be any damage to engine?

If the engine is running fine, then probably not. How does he know it was "sucking water"?

Right when water is ingested, pull the plugs and flame arrestor cover and spray wd40 down the holes.

If this happened awhile ago, and has been run since, then there is no point.

it doesnt run yet. He burned up the starter which I did replace (and need to install yet). He said when he hooked the hose
up to it last year, it made a "funny noise" so he shut it off and never did anything with it since.
I checked the compression and it is good (145 to 150 psi). Is their anything else that could possibly be damaged.
thanks!!

Per the manual, part of "de-watering" procedure is to change the counterbalance shaft oil. I just got my 97 XP running again which was flooded and nobody really talked about that when telling me what to do.

What are the opinions on the counterbalance shaft oil out there?

Spiffy, based on what you are saying, it made a funny noise and hasn't run since, then yes, there is likely to be damage inside the engine.

If hydrolocked at any point, both the top and bottom ends will need help. If he just sucked in some water, and then got it out quickly after, you might just have top end damage. You really need to tear it down and inspect it.

The counter balance shaft oil is a good thought. I have to admit I did not do that when I soaked mine.
