could someone please help? and or point me to a place to buy parts?
I have my daughter's 1997 SeaDoo GTI, 717 rotax engine. It runs, but the engine stumbles and won't run above idle once it gets warmed up. I suspect an electrical or carbonation issue. I have done a lot of basic troubleshooting, and don't know what to do next.
1997 Seadoo GTI, having issues with engine stumbling after it warms up / gets hot
Hull ID. ZZNA4458K679, 717 Rotax engine
Engine runs well with new spark plugs when cool, but after it warms up / gets hot (not over hot) it stumbles and won't run much above idle. Changing the spark plugs, specifically the rear spark plug seems to solve the issue temporarily.
I think the rear speak plug is not sparking well and / or getting fowled. The plug does not look burnt, maybe a bit wet, but not a lot. If I change the rear plug the engine will run good again for a while, until it gets hot. I then change the plug and it goes again, but eventually the time it runs good is so short it is not worth the effort, maybe 10 minutes of good running.
First, I don't think my oil injectors are working, After hours of operation, I can't tell the level of the oil has moved, so I don't think the injectors are working. For this reason, I have been running with pre-mixed gas and oil.
One thing I would like to buy is a part that places the oil injector pump, I forget it's name, but basically it allows you to run Pre-mix gas and oil and takes the oil injectors out of the picture. I have been told this is the way to go and it makes sense to me. Can someone please tell me the name of this part and a source for it? thanks you.
The other route that I am thinking is electrical, seems to me it could be a spark plug or coil wire, or even coil issue. Somewhere in a forum I once read something to this effect, but I am unable to find it again. I am thinking about simply buying new spark plug wires coil wire and coil and whatever else is prudent. yes it is time to start throwing parts at it. I hate to do this, but after last years camping trip I was a bit discouraged after the ski did not run. Again, could someone please point me to a source for these parts? thank you
Right now, I am in the process of taking the carb off the ski and cleaning it, so I want to buy a carb rebuild kit too. Again, could someone please point me to a source for a carb kit? thank you
Any other thoughts I would be open to hearing them.
If it is easier, and any of you want to talk to me on the phone to make it easier for you and me, PM me and I will either call you or give you my phone number, thanks
