I need some help with my 97 sea doo XP. Last weekend I took it out and noticed it takes about 10 sec every time for it to start. And at times when I would give it full throttle it would bog down and die. And the other thing is the time it takes to start just ended up draining a brand new battery. I have not done anything to it up but am up for suggestions. Thanks Jake.

So I replaced the starter and some tune up to the carbs. But when you start it up its fine but when you shut it off and go to start up again it won't start and sometimes it acts like it's getting enough fuel and at time it acts like it's not getting enough. And maybe I got too small of a battery cause this one has 240 cranking amps any help again fellas is very appreciated

Usually if it doesn't start after running it's the needle and seat leaking fuel and flooding out.

If when it does start and it runs pretty decent, it sounds like your Rave valves might be dirty or clogged. You will have to remove the exhaust pipe to remove them but it will be worth the effort. They may be gummed up that they are not opening under vacuum. Hope this helps.

Dirty RAVE valves will not cause hard starting or the ski to die. Also you don't have to pull the pipe to clean them. They will cause poor performance though and should be cleaned as a maintenance item.

:thumbsup:Thought I would mention the Rave Valves as the was an issue and solution on my BIL's 97 XP last year. Working on his VTS right now and tried to remove the mag side Rave but no luck. What's your secret without removing the pipe? Would appreciate any input. JB, if all other routes are exhausted, it might be worth tackling the Raves. Like indicated, it should a normal maintenance routine.

Remove the stainless bail then the black and red cap and spring. Then the two Alan bolts. If you can't get it to clear the pipe then roll the diaphragm down off the top black plastic part and unscrew the cap with the 10mm stud on top then remove the housing and finally the actual valve.
