I bought this ski in June of this year did some maintenance on it and took it out to the lake for the 4th of July. The ski ran fine for 20 minutes or so up and down the shore line just to feel it out maybe half throttle, decided everything was ok so I gave it full throttle for a short burst it pulled well but never ran right after I let off. It immediately lost power started popping out of the carbs and wouldn't stay running. I bypassed the fuel selector valve but that didn't change anything so I called it quits.
When I got home I immediately took the carbs off to find the carbs had been rebuilt including silver springs and the low speed needles had been turned in 1/4 of turn, but they were completely clean. I ordered the correct black springs, verified the jets were correct, ultrasonically cleaned the carbs, set the lever height level with the metering plate, and finally verified pop off pressure and that the needle and seat didn't leak.
I pond tested the ski, same problem breaking up popping wouldn't stay running along with 12v low message on the display so I ordered a rectifier thinking that was the problem.
Today I took the ski out again after fitting the new rectifier still the same problem but no more 12v low message. RPM at idle was very low the ski wouldn't stay running without throttle input, I was able to get the rpm up to 1500rpm by adjusting the idle screw (I never adjusted it or moved it since I got it so it's weird that I had to adjust it). I rode the ski around for a little bit but it didn't have any power same as when it had problems when I took it out the first time. I can hear popping from the intake and can't get the rpm any higher than 4000 rpm.
Now that I have it back home I pulled the plugs, the mag plug looks normal but the PTO plug is completely black. It's almost like the rear cylinder isn't firing which I've read a lot of posts similar to that. I'm going to buy a compression gauge tomorrow, I did use a scope down the spark plug holes and both pistons look normal. I also ohmed out the spark plug wires, I connected the meter leads to the spark plug boots and got around 22K ohms and didn't change as I wiggled the wires.
Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm really close to being at the end with this ski.
