Thanx to you guys its now cranking!! I have no spark tho. Does the coil pack need 12 volts? The voltage at the coil pack has been hard to read. Can I put 12 volts to the pos. side of the coil pack to check it? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanx..."T"....

Nope. The coil is fed by a CDI. The CDI will give the coil a 150v pulse to fire it.

A known issue with the 800 engine is that the pulse coil breaks from it's mount. Remove the MAG cover, and see if it's still attached.

hi, i'm having the same problem. the coil gets its power directed to it from thr cdi box via the white wire. the cdi box sends the voltage in pulses from the signals from the trigger coil. i've traced my problem to a defective cdi box. this is after checking all fuses, then doing the ohm test on the trigger coil but i read here its a common problem for the trigger coil mount to break. so it could test good on ohm but have a broke mount. Best way to be sure it to remove the mag cover and put an eye on it. if no problems there, move on and do the ohm test on the cdi box.

Dr. honda, Do you mean the box that houses the coil, solenoid and fuse in the rear? If so, it's all intact and mounted solid. Is this the "mag" that you are referring too?
