97 challenger1800 port revs high under load

new here, both engines new, run fine until pulling tube, port engine will rev up to 7000+ under a load , starboard at 4000, sounds like clutch slipping in a car or prop slipping, I checked for leaks, none, any ideas? thanks ,love the site ,Mike

Welcome to the seadoo forum Mike. You might want to check the wear ring for excessive clearance. It should be about .040" at the center of the impeller blade. Measure it from the nozzle end with a 12" feeler guage. It might be that the wear ring around the impeller is damaged too.
