97 Challenger taking on water

First time poster.....

I recently purchased a 97 seadoo challenger and it nearly sank on me this weekend. I had noticed that it always took on a little water, but the bildge pump has always worked. When the water would come in it would only stay for a short time and when i would go it would somewhat drain once i got back in motion.

well i let it sit in the water for a few hours and when i went to check on it, the entire engine compartment was filled w/ water. I have it running again now, but need to get the leak fixed before i take it back into the water.

I looked at the rubber plugs in the back and it seemed like the rubber behind the part were possible rotten. also i know that the scupper valve is bad b/c water comes in the deck. now the bildge pump does not work either, could it possibly be from the hose itself??

its possible, thats why I relocated mine, to side of hull. Need to inspect the "carbon" ring area (under the grey shield), loosen the clamp thats on the thru-hull (next to fiberglass) and push forward, then reclamp, It'll put more of a compression on steel collar.

You can fill the engine bay up with water, while boats' on trailer, then inspect to see where its leak'n.

that's a good idea. i am not very mechanically inclined, so the easier the better...

that bilge pump seems like it is very difficult to get to, any tips on getting it out of there?

find a contourtionist, or have ur kid/neighbors kid, get in there...

do you know where i can buy the plug assembly on the rear of the boat? the plug, plate and rubber seals???
i saw a thread on here for the scupper valve and will order that today.
