So I just picked up 3 XPs 2 96s and one 97 that each need just a few minor things. So to start off one 96 will start up fine but when you take off in the water if will fall flat and stop pulling. I was told in need to replace the rectifier but I just can't seem to locate it. Thanks for the help

Under the hood, pull the tray and it's in the grey box. Once inside it is the square part held on with two ten millimeter headed bolts that has four wires coming out of it.

To test if it needs to be replaced, just disconnect the red wire on it. If it runs fine than you found your issue. If you are still having problems it is probably fuel related. Do you have grey fuel lines still?

Yes it still has the gray fuel lines. It will start up fine and idle good but when i put a load on it will jump out of the water good the fall on its face. Im going to test it with the volt meter and see if it spikes really high and ill also unplug the red wire and try that. The guy I got it from told me it wasnt charging the battery also. But I appreciate the help, and Im sure ill have many more questions being that I bought 3 skis.

Sounds good, come ride falls lake or jordan one weekend. Im out every saturday and sunday most weekends.

Did you get to unplug red wire at rectifier and test ride yet?

I have a ton of parts here in Raleigh if you need anything lemme know.

I have not had a chance to do it yet, I hope to mess with it again Monday, Ill be at lake Gaston this weekend and im not taking any skis with me. I have one thats ready i just have to register them, I have not had a chance to do that yet

I just registered mine. They are making us put stickers on both sides of ski now. Freaking ugly orange crap.

UGH! That is what every state should be.

NC used to be right around $30 for 3 years as well. Gotta love the scams the states are pulling to generate revenue.

Dang...I just registered one of the hulls I bought from you. $38 for 3 years here in MN.
