Has new SBT motor. Bought 2 months ago, runs great at two-thirds or three quarter throttle go past that and engine dies. Have installed new fuel lines, new fuel switch, have checked baffel in tank to make sure no obstructions. Have takin carbs apart to make sure no gunk or filters clogged. Tried running fuel line straight into the tank. Does have 165 Jets instead of 142.5 will start right back up after it dies sometimes even have to choke it. Does anyone have any ideas?

First of all get the original jets back in it. The machine is never gonna run right with the wrong parts and that's a mile off. 70 lows (needle out one to one and a quarter turn) and 142.5 highs with the needles closed.

Check the O-ring in the top of the filter/water separator and make sure it's not cross threaded. Make sure the impulse line is not kinked. Were new carb base gaskets and a new O-ring under the intake manifold used when the SBT engine got installed?

Not sure about o ring or gaskets. Has inline fuel filter now. Will order right jets and no lines are kinked. Strange in runs so good until you reach a certain point?

Your symptoms describe when the rectifier goes bad and feeds ac power in to the dc circuits of the ski and make it act stupid. But carbs are key to a happy 2smoker

Only 96 787's have this issue but when the regulator fails it will idle fine and jump off of idle fine but act like it's hitting the rev limiter at about 3500rpm right before it gets the ski up on plane. If you have a tach it won't say rpm cause the signal will be jumping all over the place.
