Started tearing into this to try and figure out what went wrong and could use some more knowledgeable opinions.
Long story short - had been riding for ~1hr when we hit some turbulent water (rapids a few feet below the surface, no contact with rocks or anything) and all of a sudden, the ski lost power. It was still running but like no real propulsion. Luckily we were right next to a ramp so we drifted it to the shore and beached it while we ran back on another ski to get the truck. There was a fair amount of water in the hull and it was pretty warm, way more than usual. This ski has been pretty dry every other time its been out. Have had this ski out for 3-4hrs/weekend ever since June without issue. Recently just cleaned the RAVE valves and replaced the bellows/orings. Also the morning this happened I had greased the PTO bearing (maybe 1-2 pumps, just until the seal moved) and changed the jetpump oil.
I pulled the flywheel cover and behind the flywheel I pulled out these silicone-like chunks. One has some metal shavings in it and the other has some sort of fibrous material attached to it.

From there I started at the top of the engine. The head had some oil spray on it that was new and when I went to remove the spark plugs they were loose. They didnt look overly soiled or rusty. The RAVE valves were pretty oily.

Motor spins freely without plugs, rings appear to be intact when looking down RAVE holes, and the cylinders and head have no scoring or pitting. There was some minor corrosion along the head case orings.
Any thoughts on this one?
