Hi all. Recently got my hands on 96XP hull, the engine, manifolds, and carbs missing, everything else there. I have a 97SPX with a bad hull that was gifted to me years ago, good motor, 150PSI compression, fogged and put away. All other components on the SPX are good as well. I feel like this probably gets asked a lot, tried googling but didn't find a complete answer.
What's different about a 96XP to a 97SPX? I know seadoo usually made last year's XP into the new years SPX, however I know that a newer 787 has the fill port for the balance shaft, supposably the 97 has one electronic module, just the MPEM where as the 96 is split into 2? The SPX has 2 gauges, the XP 3 gauges with the multifunction LCD gauge. Is there anything else I'm missing? Can anyone elaborate on the differences and what I can and can't use or mix together to make one good ski with the best gauge options? Planning to make this into a resto as well so new decals, mats etc will be in order along with a complete inspection/overhaul of all components.
Pic below, thanks all.
