96 xp problem

Hello all, usually silent and a reader on this forum but have a problem with my 96 xp. So here it goes I put the lanyard on sometimes I get the two beeps and fires up, sometimes I get it and just turns over. A lot of the time I will only get one beep and nothing. The lanyard key seems a little lose on the connection. I’m lost definitely killed the weekend of riding. Anyone have this problem before or know which direction to start in?

Sounds like your lanyard is getting old and not making the connection. You could try cleaning the contacts. The one beep means it isn't recognizing the lanyard.
