Let's try this over here as I didn't get a whole lot of reply's at PWC Today.
I'm at my wits end with this ski. Background on the ski: ex-regional race engine that I rebuilt, 787 bored over .25 mm, ported cylinders, westcoast head, V-tec intake, 44mm buckshot/mikuni carbs w/ flame arrestors, remote fuel pump-mounted on to the engine, primer kit, PSI pipe, 98 SPX waterbox, Skat-trak 16/24 swirl impeller with worx intake. Ski ran well in the beginning of the season but had severe cavitation so I added a new wear ring and the impeller. Next outing the ski was flooded with about 6" of water in the hull, damn carbon seal ring, and ended up with about 3 inches of water in the black coil box. Dried the box made sure all connection were clean and all dry. Now she comes out of the hole hard for about 4-5 seconds and dies might stay running and might not. Can cruise around 5000 rpm, hit it & she dies. Rebuilt the fuel pump & carbs. The ski has all new fuel lines, filter, along with another inline filter, new fuel selector also put a jet in the return line to increase fuel pressure. It has to be electrical because when it dies the plugs are wet with fuel and it's like I hit the off switch. Any advise???
Update:
Checked all the electronics that I know how to. Pick up coil/ trigger checks 242 ohms. Stator checks .8 ohms. Coils: primary side checks .7 & secondary checks 13.17K ohms, caps are both at 5.2 k ohms. Voltage across the battery terminals at 13.5 v.
This is the only oddity that I discovered. When I connect the main ground wire to the battery the holder relay (in the gray box with a 5 amp fuse attached to it) engages, none of my other ski's do this. I changed the relay and it still does it.
I haven't put it back in the water as I fear I haven't corrected the problem yet. I will be taking a spare DESS post harness with me to swap in case that may be an issue per Minnetonka4me.
Any other suggestions?????
