A friend gave me a 1996 Seadoo XP and it does not start. I changed the battery, put in the key and nothing. I took a test light and found there is power coming out of the battery and going into the black box in the back of the ski. There is power going into one side of the starter relay, but no power coming out the other side, any ideas? I thought either the key went bad, or the relay went bad...

96 Electrical Help

I have a 97 Xp, and it was the 5 amp fuse in the front of the ski, replaced fuse and still been working. Not sure if 96 & 97 the same though.

replace the (Relay) or put a set of jumper cables across it and see if the starter spins just jump it and see if it starts or tries if it does then replace it.

Disconnect the small connector to the relay and check to see if there is power to the yellow/red wire when you press the start button. If you get power there, replace the relay.

Thank you guys, I found that after all that it was just the starter relay in the back black box. That saved a bunch of money. It looks like they left the cover to the box open and flooded it out. I had to clean all the fuse blocks as well as all of the terminals.
