96 xp 787 motor out question?

I’m new here so if I’m doing things wrong let me know. My question is , can I install my battery to test electrical functions ( vts/ gauges)with the motor out? I picked up a 96 do 787 with a blown engine and I immediately pulled it and tore it down . Now I’m waiting on parts. Just wondering if It will damage anything if the batter is installed with out the motor in the ski?

The front (grey) electrical box gets it's ground through the 6-pin plug that goes into the front of the engine.
