96 Sportster Won't Turnover

My fuel selector knob also will turn 360 degrees. I don't know if it's stuck on off. The engine cranks, but won't turn over and start. It was originally stalling after running awhile - now it won't start. Any suggestions on what to check first?

There is a pin to lock it from rotating. But, if your engine isn't starting, then that's the first place I'd look. Remove it from the hull, and check it out.

Thanks Doc, but I am not mechanically inclined. The boat has 400 hrs and you can hear the bearings rattle a little when u shut the engine down. I am probably going to have the engine replaced. any suggestions? I saw a site where the price of an engine was $ 750

I get it to run for 2 seconds if I use starter spray. Wondering if reserve-off-run fuel selector knob is stuck on off. It turns 360, however the boat would stall sometimes when running hot, but always would start. Is it possibly something in the fuel system where it's not getting fuel?

Sounds like it's just not getting fuel.
