Boat was winterized. i had tipped all the way back down to where trailer is touching ground at rear, to get all water from bilge to drain down. Left it for a week. When I cam back, I notice about 6oz or so of blackish oil puddled by the two drains.

Would this be normal as the boat was not meant to be tipped back for this long? The boat does have an oil tank that replaced the oil injector - there are no leaks on the cannister or line from what I can tell. The oil is not blue like the amsoil hp injector oil I use.

any thoughts where the oil could be coming from? Could it be left over from years past?

thx

What?

Yes this could be residual, it could be from an exhaust leak, it could be all the things you listed.

Do you still have the original oil tank? The breather check valves on them go bad from time to time. When the air inside the tank is warmer than outside, it can force a bit of oil through the bad valve. Mine did that this summer, I just remembered to slightly loosen the fill cap when I parked the boat, and haven't had a problem since.

This is probably a next summer project as the best way to find leaks is to clean everything and run the boat.
