My 96 seadoo xp runs great after I start it the problem is it only starts when it wants to. Been told it could be a corroded ground

Does it struggle to turn over? Give us a little more detail....some background information

If it's going to start it turns over fine but if it's not going to start when u press button it starts to turn over after a couple seconds of holding it in(sorry if that was kinda confusing)

If it struggles to turn over I take the key off for few seconds then put it back on and keep doing that until it starts and it eventually does

Put the key on, then jump the lugs on the solenoid with a screwdriver or pliers. It will spark when they touch. It' could be the solenoid, so this test would exclude it if it cranks over fast. Is this an aftermarket starter? I've seen them struggle to turn over fast enough.

From my experience it sounds like a bad starter, I've seen a few people have inconsistent starting with no crank, slow crank, and normal crank at any random time. Make sure your starter is oem and if not you need an oem starter asap. Racerxxx has a good point of checking the solenoid so make sure you do that first as it is easier to test and cheaper to replace.
