Have a 96 Seadoo SPX that I just brought out after winter storage. Works fine except the temperature light comes on when I first start out. After throttling up the light goes out and runs good. Releasing the throttle, the light comes on. Hit the throttle and the light goes out. Took the wire off the sensor at Idle and the light goes out.

I'm thinking it's a bad sensor, so I've ordered a new one, since that is an inexpensive component.

My other thought is the jet pump. Pulled the oil cone off and the oil was black and smelled burnt. Cleaned out the oil and replaced with new oil. Impleller has two small nicks, but the wear band looks OK.

Should I go ahead and order the parts to re-build the jet pump or could it be something else. Could the bearings be toast?

Reason I think it's the sensor is because the engine could not possibly up to high temperature when first firing it up.

Any thoughts
