Hey all, my seadoo wont crank over, installed new Starter relay still nothing.....Beeps are telling me its ready, but I don't get the 2 beep when in neutral, and wont crank at all, battery is good all connections clean ect......would it possibly be a fuse up front somewhere ? fuses in rear of box near relay are all good.......how many cranking amps should the battery be.....

spent way to long in driveway screaming to get on the water,
Cheers

I would lean in the direction of the neutral safety switch. They are a somewhat common failure.

The one thing I would do is jump the solenoid to make sure that the engine cranks. If it does, that will confirm a good battery, good cables, quality connections and a good stater.

What do you mean the beeps tell you it's ready? 2 beeps in neutral means it's good to go and should turn over with the start button. 4 beeps in forward or reverse tells you that you need to be in neutral.

So, what kind of beeps are you getting?

Edit....you will only get 2 beeps in neutral when you first put the key on. Your beeper could also be bad, but doubtful if your getting other beeps.

Ok thanks Joe, ill check the Neutral switch, already jumed the Solenoid, starter cranks the engine, although it sounds rough and cranks very slow then stops.

I don't get the 2 beeps to say its in neutral, when I push the start button 5 times I get a long beep then a short one.....I can hear clicking coming from the Control box in rear, but wont crank at all.....I don't get any beeps in forward or neutral.....when I jump the solenoid, the engine cranks but very slow...and then stops...also sounds really ruff growling noise...

You wouldn't get the 2 beeps if the NS is bad. It thinks it is in gear. Many have eliminated it as it is a common failure.

As far as slow cranking goes, this will be an issue. Get the battery load tested. Don't assume it is good, test it. If it is good, then test cranking volts at the hot said if the solenoid, then the output side (if you can crank it via the start button) then at the starter. If these numbers match what the battery tested at then you have a bad starter. If it is an OEM starter rebuild it with a new brush kit. If the numbers drop as you test it, it is a cable or poor connection.

I don't think your MPEM is recognizing your key, or your post is bad. The manual will give you the beep codes and what they mean. Clean the post contacts, the metal ring and center lug on the post with some steel wool. Then clean the metal contacts on the lanyard cap.

Ok thanks...I don't have a volt meter but may grab one now....So I took the plugs out and crossed he solenoid, cranked over nice and shot oil out everywhere......put plugs back in crossed again and slow as heck to turn over....any thoughts there....at this point im just trying to get it to run

Ya I already cleaned them up.....along with every thing else. battery cables ground good on motor ect....and I have the codes now as well thanks.....I by passed everything to just try and get it running first

does oil coming out of the plug holes when cranking make sense ?? it was the first time it cranked over with no issues other than the plugs were not in

Crank seals are leaking, not good. But let's try and advance past the first issue.

Oh Man im so confused.....So now I hooked my battery up to my truck with cables...not running just to see if was the battery.....Now my electrical is working....I get the 2 beeps and she cranks over still slowly but does crank. then stops......So i'm leaning towards bad battery and or starter ?? Appreciate all your help so far....I'm not sure why everything is working now but it is.....Other than it wont start.

This Seadoo sat all last year, Also when I crank the engine by hand it sounds like steel on steel in there, really tough to turn it with or without the plugs in, doesint change.

What a Pain.... If in fact the crank seals are leaking is it a hard fix ? Is it ok to run it like that ? I have Oil in the bottom of boat as well, like under the engine. I was hoping that was a small hose leak, but maybe not, Thanks again for all the help, !!
