96 or 97 xp?????????

Hey guys, I currently have a 96 xp. Runs great most of the time (needs a carb re-build im sure) and is in great shape. A friend of mine has a 97 xp hes selling that i can pickup for pretty cheap.

Is it worth the upgrade to the new hull design? I know they wiegh about 90 pounds heavier so i would assume the acceleration would be slower.

I can take it for a spin next time we are at the lake together to see what i think but i just wanted to get everyones opinion. Is the new hull design and the springy seat worth the extra weight?? Are there any problems related to the 97 as opposed to the 96?

I dont think it will be worth it unless it had the 951 motor then Id be all for it because me personally I dont want a slower ski especially one that is a pita to work on.

Find a XP LTD. You wont be disappointed. FAST. I have the 98 and I couldn't see it with a 787 in it. 951 ftw. The hull is very nimble on the water..and tippy. It can be interesting riding 2up. It's a sexy hull, but go with the ltd.
