96 GTX loss of compression

I have searched and there are a few threads that are similar, but none have the same problem I am having. Well first of all the tank selector valve does not work on main just res, so I have been running it solely on res. I think this is due to ethanol.
So, I was driving it last weekend. Everything was great, then out of no where it started running terrible and would not get above about 25 mph. Being slightly mechanically inclined, but not seadoo inclined. I removed spark plugs and checked spark on both. Looks great. So then I checked compression(the manual way:no gauge). Front blew my finger off, but the rear didn't do much of anything. I can hold my finger over the spark plug hole and keep it there. The list of possibilities, I can think of, are: piston rings gone, broken rod, or blown head gasket. This is all I have so far. I was just wondering is there anything I might be missing? The thing is, it doesn't make a lot of noise like something is broke off in there. Any suggestions?
 
If it doesn't blow your finger off... there isnt' any compression. Why??? we could guess all day... but it's a moot point. The engine needs disassembled to fix it... and you will see what happened once it's apart.


BUT... If I was going to guess....


The engine was running lean, and that piston melted, and is now holding the rig off the cyl wall.

On a 2 stroke engine... you should never run the engine if there are known issues. Since the fuel select valve wouldn't allow the engine to run in the "Run" position... chances are, the valve was also plugged up on the reserve position. In turn, you melted an engine.

If you rebuild... you need to change all the gray (Tempo) fuel hoses, and clean all the parts in the fuel system.
