96 gtx craps @ 4000 rpm

My problem is with my '96 gtx. The machine starts fine and the problem is intermittent. It dosen't run bad all the time. It accelerates to about 4000 rpm then craps out. Dosen't die, just craps out. With the seat off I can see the motor shakes. Cleaned the rave valves and all the electrical connections we could see. Brand new battery. Some of us guys are thinking electrical, others fuel. So I'm wondering if there is a common problem to these? Just got back home from holidays and thinking about where to start trouble shooting.

pull on the motor, make sure the mounts aint broke. Then I'd start with carbs and replacing the grey fuel lines.
