96 GTX runs well for about 30 secs then just bogs - no power. idles fine. Shut it off, leave for a bit, restart and same thing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Engine rebuilt a few years ago. Have replaced the following in addition to the motor job:

ignition coil, fuel selector valve, grey fuel lines, wear ring

Try opening the fuel cap when it happens, als pull the seat and make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks.

Was thinking exhaust leak too. Try running with no seat on and see what happens. Did you ever clean and rebuild the carbs after changing the fuel lines?

thanks for the ideas. carbs were done after rebuild, but not since changing the fuel lines

Whoever did the work should have known the grey lines were bad news. I cannot believe they kept them on there. They make a green goo around all of the carb nipples. Did you notice this when you changed the lines?

I was surprised too. I'm not a mechanic and relied on others to do the work. Lots of info out there for do it yourselfers. I was annoyed to say the least.

I noticed a little residue but nothing excessive. sounds like re-visiting the carbs and checking the exhaust are my next steps
