1996 GSX 787 here. 135.x hours on machine. I rebuilt the carbs with OEM Mauniki? Sea-Doo dealer rebuild kit. I replaced fuel lines to the carb and the lines on the carbs. The ski now starts without using choke. So before I did anything electrical the machine would start and I could idle out to the lake at 1800 rpm and she ran fine no issue. Floor it and it sounded like a rev limiter. On land I unplugged spark plug closest to the front no change. Switched and unplugged the rear spark plug and ski would not start.
Before I pulled it out of the water I was SO angry I would start and rev to 7,000 rpm and then it would die to 2,000 rpm. It would idle fine. Then I kept doing it cause I had to get back to shore. Then BAM it ran like a bat out of hell and would hover at 7,000 rpm and ran GREAT!
I read online you could unplug the red wire on the rectifier and if it ran perfect then the machine has a bad rectifier. So I launched it and confirmed it still did the limiting crap and it did. Then I ran machine with red not connected. Ran great.
Unfortunately ordered a rectifier from JSP Manufacturing. Installed and again would rev wide open to 7,000 RPM and NOW limit me at 5,000 RPM. Jumped off and disconnected red wire. Ran great. all the way to 7,000 rpm and not a single issue but i assume the battery at this point is not charging.
Nothing stuck in pump. Disconnecting the red wire the machine ran super strong and perfect.
I am running new AGM battery in the machine if that has any affect.
Thoughts? Can these things be bench tested? Is there any manual out there that would tell me with a meter what to look for? Any help greatly appreciated.
