I was wondering if it is possible to hook up a 96 GSX Hood with the gauges working to a GS.. as the GS Hood only has gas gauge and the GSX has gas and speed..

I know the hoods alone are compatible.. but wondering about the gauges can a speed gauge be added to a GS?

Believe it or not, stock, the 96' GSX doesn't come with a speed o, I had to add it to mine. You should probably take a look at the wiring schematics between the two models, download the SM. I know the GSI is more compatible to do this upgrade, the GS is more stripped down and doesn't have VTS, so it may not have the wire/plug interfacing to make it happen like my GSX did. You could probably wire some stuff up to make something work, but I think if speed o indication is what you've after, I'd say buy a dial sweeping speed o gauge and ride plate sensor and go from there. I know the 97' GSX or 98'- 99' GSXL, or 98'-00' GSX RFI had the dial speed o gauge, also most of the GTX's of the same yrs. Or you might come out ahead cheaper buying an aftermarket gauge with GPS speed sensing. I've seen people do this and it runs just over $100, plus it's more accurate.

Well I purchased a 96 GSX Hood with Info/Gas Gauge and Speed as well for very good deal. It’s been very hard to find a GS/GSX hood in good condition no cracks.. that was my big thing was cosmetics but it would be nice to make the gauges work as well with my GS.
