Hi everyone. can anybody tell me if there is a fuel pump in the 96 seadoo GSX 787, as I am having trouble getting fuel up to the carby's, Ive just got an exchange motor from Jetsport QLD, and I cant get the baffle out of the tank to check as I already put the motor in. thanks

Check the screw on fuel filter to make sure the O-ring is in good shape and in it's groove on the top of it. Make sure it goes on without cross threading. This is a common spot for the fuel system to suck air.

You must verify the fuel valve also. make sure it is not clogged and does not pass between the RES and ON positions.

The fuel pump is on the front of the front carb but make sure these more common issues are not hassling you first.

ok thanks matt ive checked these and they look good. I just read another post were somebody said to prime the lines as the pulse pump wont pull the full up empty lines, so ive sucked on the lines to get the full up and im going to try to start it in the morning, thanks for your input.

Fastest way to prim the lines is pour pre-mix in the carbs and start start it up. Also dump the crappy seadoo filer and just install a Fram G2 I think in the 1/4 model or a universal boat fiilter. They work 100% better and don't leak air. Also check that your pulse line is good and you selector valves is not clogged.

Just an FYI, the stock filter is a water separator as well. The way the baffle is in the tank kind of keeps any water out of the system, but it is another water trap. Actually it is more of a trap than a filter. I run both the stock and an inline one like a G2. No issues on any of the skis.

I pitch them on my boat and ski's. Never seen water ever in them. I know they are a separator 2 but they are pretty much junk. I don't think I have every had my ski's under water enough to suck any in. On my boat if I flipped that I don't think water would by main issue at that point.

Thanks for all the input guys, but after I primed the fuel lines she started up and didn't miss a beat, sounded great, although I like the sound of the universal boat filter, I will be looking into that, thanks again for the input.

I probably would not use a universal boat filter. THe fuel pumps on these are not as strong as an actual fuel pump on a boat and could have an issue pulling through such a large filter. My opinion is atat the stock filter/seperator has been working fine for over 20 years with no issues so I just replace them with a new OEM one and have never had any fuel issues.
