Hello,

I'm new to this thread, and a new Sea-Doo owner.

I just bought a 96 challenger, and took it out for the first time yesterday. I was very disappointed in how long it took to get the boat to plane. I'm somewhat heavy at 260 pounds, and with me and my son (100 pounds) the boat took about 10-15 seconds to plane.... I was stuck at 15 mph....

Obviously, if he sat up front that would help, but it seemed odd. I've read other post saying that the RPM's are critical, and this one runs at about 7K once we get planned, and running full speed.

I've scheduled a tune up, since I dont know how long it's been since the engine has had one.

Is this normal, or can I expect to get this puppy running better ?

Thanks,

I took it to a different dealer, and he showed me that the impeller and wear ring were trashed... In fact the wear ring was pretty much non-exsistant.

The bad part was that they charged $300.00 to replace the impellar and wear ring. Is this something realtivley easy to do yourself ?
