Hi folks,
Unfortunately, I managed to get water in my Seadoo 951 di engine. After much hassle cleaning plugs 30+ times, I've managed to get the engine started!

There was a lot of grey sludge in the crank case that kept on fouling the plugs, would that have been 2-stroke oil & water, or gear oil & water?

Is the counter balance shaft isolated from the crank / crank case? Or does the oil now need to be changed?

Any help would be really great, thanks!

As far as I understand it, if all your bottom end seals are intact, the counterbalance shaft is isolated from the rest of the crankcase. I would think your sludge is engine oil and water. Here's what it looks like inside.

Well that's a relief, thanks!

I might check it anyway as it's done just over 200hrs. It was rebuilt some time back but it was likely just the top end.

Just one thing, why would there be engine oil in the crankcase of a 2 stroke? Surely there should only be 2 stroke oil in there?

By engine oil, I mean 4 stroke petrol engine oil ;).

Cheers

No, there is no crankcase oil in a 2-stroke.
Your balancer shaft does have separate oil and should be changed.
