951 stator corrosion

Can I just use I write brush to clean this up? Is there a way to test this out of the engine? I sprayed electric contact cleaner on it and started to use a pick but stopped thinking I might make it worse. Thanks.

Has this engine been rebuilt ?
Looks like rotor magnet has been touching the coil pack indicating your crankshaft bearings are toast

This came off an engine that is more corroded than you can imagine. I'm scrapping the motor but this part looks cleaner than the one I'm rebuilding. See pic of what it came off of.... thanks, Happy Thanksgiving!
