I just had my 951 DI rebuilt. He replaced the counterbalance and crank as the gears on both were destroyed. The crank had the timing dot on it but the counterbalance (WSM i believe) had 3 different marks on it marked I,II and III. They were all 120 degrees away from eachother. He ended up using the III mark which gave this counterbalance configuration as seen in this video at 2:58.

Is this correct? Ive read that the weights should be facing opposite directions but this video shows otherwise.

Here is a photo of my Di engine with a SD balance shaft in it properly aligned. If there is an issue with alignment I am told you will know INSTANTLY as it will shake like crazy. I hope this helps. I am still working on my Di engine. I dont drink alcohol, but I am reconsidering. Good luck!

That is correct.. i know now because I had to take it all apart and turn it 180 degrees ‍*facepalm*

I am SO sorry! What a pain! How is it running now?
I just did a leak down test and it failed. I pulled the head and it is warped .011. The engine has never overheated and ran fine until the crank bearing puked. How the head warped is a mystery. Now I have to find a used one as I am not paying SD $800 for a new one.
