Ok, so what's the deal with so many of the 951 head being shaved down from OEM?

Is this adding HP? why are people do this?

I don't get it.

Why are they modifying this part?

The OEM head has a bit of a lip around the cylinders, but so many of the heads I see, do not...

WHY?!

thanks guys!

Ok, so I was talking to Tom at SES, apparently the ones with the lip are the ones that have the combustion chamber milled out, to reduce performance/compression.

Vs. a shaved head which would raise compression and ideally, horsepower.

He said he was going to send me pics today on the differences.

The head on the left is OEM.

The head on the right has had the combustion chamber milled out.

I'm told milling the combustion chamber is to reduce performance/compression.
