I found a thread with very specific instructions and photos on rebuilding 951 carburetors about a month ago and am having trouble trying to locate it. If anyone can steer me to it, or provide a link I would be so appreciative!!!

Rebuilding carbs...?

Do you have your kits yet? If you get your rebuild kits from SBT, they have have the procedures for doing the rebuild.

The rebuild is not much more than replacing parts. The only thing you have to be careful with is the lever and spring.

Get the kit, look over the info and then, give us a holler.

Oh, when you order the kit, you'll get all the gaskets and springs to do all three SBN carbs.

Thanks so much for the quick response and info!! I will order the kits tonight from SBT. I build drag cars for fun so I should be able to handle it, just always helps to have photos/diagrams when working on something new!

Cheers!

if ya build drag cars then its a piece of cake, i luv cake!!
the one carb has a accelerator pump on it, make sure that it works proper,
the check ball inside the pump body can get stuck with corrosion, just feed the body with some fuel and pump it and watch for a squirt!!
as for the carb bodies, unless you have a small vac pump 'mitghty vac'
you cant check pop off pressure at needel and seat.
in a bind i will NOT change the spring under the float arm and do NOT bend or alter the arm that pushes on float needel .
this should keep things as close to were brp had then when new.

Having recently rebuilt my own 951 carbs, my advice is to:
1.Take your time and make sure the carb bodies are clean, clean, clean.
2. Replace the needle and seat, but use the origional spring.
3. Replace the accelerator pump diaphram. You can get one from the website below. If the accelerator pump body is bad you can get one from timmyboy. He has a couple forsale.

Just gave you a shameless plug timmyboy!!! lol

I'm lost on this one mud.....you say you can't do a pop off test unless you have a "mighty vac". I use a 0-60 pressure gage with a stainless tubing that I designed to fit anything on my engine, with some tuing fitting changes.

I have a small compressor, are receiver tank, needle valve and tubing.

I have no problems doing carb pressure tests, engine tests aned setting my pop offs with this system. I used a vacuum system on my old Mikuni's that I used on my motor cycle but not the Seadoo's..............

my bad, a mighty vac or any other device to accurately measure pop off pressure at the needle
i said, if in a bind, like they did not have one or something else to use.
is a gauge that measure up to 60 psi a good choice for pop off pressure?
like using a truck tire gauge that reads to 150 psi on a motorcycle that only needs 42 psi max
or a motorcycle gauge that reads to 50 psi used on a atv that only needs 5psi
the right tool for the job, if he was in a bind and did not want to spend the coulpe of bucks for the tool, then the best procedure was to leave the arm and spring in original specs unless corrosion was present.

Pop off tester....?

I see. I have a vacuum pump from the days of my motorcycle.

I know there are probably lots of tools you use since your responsible for a Seadoo repair facility. But, if you look through some of the stickies, there was one put together for memebers to build an inexensive pressure system, good for pumps and carb, along with pressure testing the engines. Most all members I've dealt with im doing their own rebuilds, are using this pressure gage system

So, rather than confuse them with another tool/product, I'd just as soon stick with the one Seadooforum has as a stickie and been so for quite some time.

If you'd like to make a thread on parts and tools that you think are good to have around for a shop, for those who work on their own skis, by all means make a sticky, listing these parts and how they work. Send me a PM, I'll go over it and if it has importance in the tools department, I'll gladly make it a "sticky" also...........
