Hey Guys,
I have a 98 vp 951 ltd
Just checked carbs as part of an engine rebuild. All good except the fuel accelerator pump.
I know its a diaphragm acivated when the throttle is moved so that the engine gets a wee burst of gas the get the engine accelerating.
Mine hasn't had fuel through it since i rebuilt the carbs last season when i first got the ski ! The problem seems to be that the brass bayonnet fittings aren't allowing flow.
The ones on the carb seem to have a one way device on them - i've freed those. The one on the pump feeding the carbs is one way and seems to be free.
The one on the carb (feeding the diaphragm) has tiny flow if its sucked really hard. The one on the pump recieving the fuel from the carb is totally blocked. i've cleaned it and it seems spotless. Actually looks like the bayonet fitting has been screwed in to far and blocked the aperture.
I understand why there are one pressure one way down stream of the pump but cant see a reason why they might be present on the feed side.
Just thought if anyone knew about these things before i got the drill out and made them clear. Any advice ??
Presume my ski will perform a lot better with it working properly - off the mark performance anyway.
Cheers,,
Phil
