Did anyone here snag this? 1983 Or better yet, who beat me to it. Guy said it just sold but it has been posted for about a month.

Hull of Sea Doo XP 800 limited. I have parts of the motor. Piston was blown. Motor was disassembled.

that looks a lot better than the picture gives it credit hull would shine up. Nice finger throttle.

That's the one Jetdoo asked my about. As I was saying "heck yes I'd go get that thing" they text him that it just sold. I was hoping 1of500 grabbed it since his second skis other hull is wrecked.

No not I. But I probably would have tried if it was cheap. Looks to just have a heavy coating of dirt on it seat might be salvageable

Well, I must say, I've done pretty extensive research on odd and one-off skis in the world, such as the quadski, the ORIGINAL Seadoo, the café racer, etc... but I have honestly never heard of a Yamaha craze. wondering if they were any good?

I have really slacked off the last month or so on my searches mostly because I shouldn't be. This one was about an hour from my bro in law. Sure hope who ever got it puts it back together. Looks like a nice specimen and all the good stuff is on it like the seat on the hood.

[emoji50] what thing?

the xp800 with only parts of the motor there. I tend to look at things as an investment. If I can't get out more than I put in.....it ain't worth my time. You're looking at several grand to get that back to the shape I like things, which is a losing investment to me.

if I was bleeding money out my arse and wanted to keep it......totally worth it as they're a dying breed.

There's no way to totally restore a 2 stroke ski and make a profit. Even if it was free you are correct you will have more in it than its worth. If you count up the labor hour's.

depends on the level of restoration, and the level of issues a ski has when purchased.

but if you do it "right" its quite hard to turn a reasonable profit unless you have a buyer lined up. Its difficult (but not impossible) to locate a buyer that is willing to pay significantly more than fair market value for a 2 stroke.

I just had a buddy do that with a really nice GSX, I helped him with a lot of the parts, complete restoration top to bottom, 2 yr warranty on engine, etc (he was planning on keeping it) he ended up basically breaking even and making slightly less than $20 an hour for his time, and it took him about 45 days for the right buyer to come along and pay $2400 (going rate is about 1800ish, and I was impressed that he got 2400)

The only way I would sell a ski I restore is if someone at the ramp made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I already know that and I'm not nearly finished with it.

I was hoping for another unit to resto. I would have gone hog wild with it just like the one I'm doing now. Restoring stuff is my hobby, I'll never stop. You have to get the word "profit" out of your head when you restore something, your profit is your satisfaction of completion and the experience getting there. Buy cheap, go deep! I just hope this one doesn't get parted.

-What's going on guys? Yep I bought that one recently  It is all there and the best condition of all the hulls I have currently no damage that I can find. Cylinder head has pitting on PTO cylinder indicating a lean condition. You all know the drill, gray tempo fuel lines. Had to pay more than I wanted for this one, haven't decided what i'm going to do with it yet but didn't want to see it sitting in that barn any longer.

-I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet and see all what it has. Appears to be completely stock though. Once I get a chance to get pictures of it all I will make a thread.

-and I'll give you all the run down on the other Mastercraft brand krave ski, sad sad story as to why the hull is busted :(

-It is the second XP800 I have bought that had a chicken coop on the property though haha!
