bought ski 3 weeks ago, put in the water and ran great for 20 min. i hit a wave and the rpm went up then it bogged down and died. restarted and continued on for about 2-3 min then i slowed down to idle and the ski died. i have since then replaced fuel lines, cleaned carbs, and fuel selector, also replaced plugs and compression is 145 and 150. starts right up on the trailer (smokes a bit) but will not start in the water. i pulled it back out of the water cranked it up and it spit out quite a bit of water, then stared. back in the water same thing. start it out of water then back it into the water it dies. start it out of water then back it into the water and rev engine it boggs down then throttles up, let it idle down it will die. whats going on? please help!

Normally, I would say your compression is low... but since you posted it... it's not.

I would check to see if something is binding in the pump. If the bearings are on the verge of seizing up... they could be getting tight with there is a load on them.

Pull the pump and check it out.

I have been battling this same problem all summer, I really wish someone knew how to fix it. Please let me know if you figure it out.

you were right on. just in case i did anther compression check and the front cylinder was completely dead. the compression readings were from when i bought it 3 weeks ago and i just assumed that the motor didnt blow the first time i took it out, but i guess it did.
