Hey Guys. Looking for some help
I have a 95 SPX (657x engine) that I am trying to tune. Ski was running great but then began to develop what sounds like a "popping sound" at full throttle out of the exhaust. When it does this, it almost feels like a "miss" when you are riding the ski. Eventually the popping will stop and RPMS will increase with full power acceleration at that point.
Thinking it was a fuel issue, I replaced all gray fuel lines, fuel selector, rebuilt both varbs with genuine Mikuni parts, and replaced fuel filter. I also cut back plug wires 1/4" . SMall filters in carbs were full of the green slime. Pop off pressure tested and 24 in front carb, 26 rear carb. Carbs held 10psi for at least 10 min. Compression is 135psi both cylinders which I know is marginal, but when ski has full power it will almost rip your arms off. It definately does not feel weak
I thought this was going to fix the issue, but popping at full throttle is still occuring. If I mash the throttle at idle, it now seems to bog down for a second and then takes off. If I slowly open up throttle to full, it will accelerate smooth up to full throttle, but then popping occurs. I removed gas cap to ensure it was not a pressure issue and it had no effect. Low speed adjustment is 1 1/8 turn out, high speed 0 turn out, per Seadoo spec
I have posted new plugs after a 5 minute 80%-full throttle run afterwhich I immediatley cut off ski with no idling
