My boat ran fine for a month then i replaced impeller and wear ring and it still ran fine and then it rained like crazy and I didnt get to take it out for a week. Now it turns over and wont start. I pulled the spark plugs out and they are covered with oil. Keep in mind my boat is premixed gas no oil pump anymore. Help my memorial day plans are ruined!

you are in the pwc section, but its just motor so its the same thing, but did you try starting with the plugs out to seee if anything shoots out of the holes, then id try new plugs and make sure you are getting spark, then try it again..... just start with the simple stuff first.

i put fresh pugs in it when I noticed the oil covered both of the old plugs. It still turned over but didnt start. What if I get no spark? Then whats next on the list?

you can try to cut the plug wires back about a 1/4 inch and then slide back into the boots and see if your getting spark if not you could have a bad coil, just check for spark firs tand if your getting spark it could be a fuel problem, also have you checked compression

pulled the plug out kept it on wire and put it close to the plug hole then turned engine over and no spark. seemed like air was just shooting out of the hole.

Okay so it started up today and ran fine but it seems to take forever to get it to start for the first time of the day. Cold starts take forever with this thing. But when it warmed up it starts with just a single press of the button. Why does it do that?

cause its a 2 stroke and they tend to be picky lol. on mine if i pull the choke and give it push start it will fire up in about 10-20 sec and after that it will on the slight touch of a button every time, glad you got her running again

Thanks brandon, Im glad too. So When you have it choked do you hold the start button down or just push it once and repeat? I think I may have flooded it by holding the choke open too long and turning it over and over. Is that a possibility?

it could but not real likely unless your giving it gas as well... I just pull the choke and hold the start button for about 10 sec it will fire up and i let it idle for about 10 sec before giving it any gas to make sure it dont bog down or anything

I think cold starts take a little longer is because of fuel delivery. It takes choking the carbs, and rolling the starter a few times to get the fuel back through the lines and into the carbs. At a warm start your lines are still full of fuel so it will hit on the first time.

When I cold start mine I always choke it and open the throttle on the first two hits. Then usually on the third it will fire right up.

I will try that out and see if it works. Oh and is there any kind of additive you guys use to clean the fuel system and carbs or do you stick with the old fashioned way " just take them out and hand clean them"?

I use Sta-bil everyone once and awhile. If you really want them cleaned good, your going to have to break them down though.

higher octane gas is fine i would use the mid grade if i was you to be safe, on 2 strokes there is not much additives to use really i have hard people using seafoam to clean it our and like watson said the stabilizer if you are going to leave gas in it longer than a few weeks, i would check out onlyseadoo.com find the package you need and get you a rebiuld kit and have a fresh rebuild if you dont know when the last time it was done.

well if you do it really good and keep things clean and always use good gas and put stabilizer in it when your not using for a while you should have to do it one good time and then just clean them every other summer or so, I dunno if we have asked you yet in this thread but you do have updated fuel lines right? you dont have the old grey tempo fuel lines from seadoo if so they need to go and replace with all new black fuel lines

also if you do the carbs get the set that will include new needles and seats so you get the entire job done and wont have to bother with it for a long time

The old grey fuel lines are all replaced. Thanks for all your help. It started on the third try a min ago. I choked it and turned it twice then tried without choking and it started right after that.
