What do you guys think? I have a 95 Speedster twin 657's. trying to breeath life to the port engine, carbs rebuilt, replacing the fuel lines etc. When I pulled the fuel baffle, the filter on the bottom fell into the tank. Miraculously, I managed to get it out, but the screen is no longer attached. So I was curious as to what type of screen I could replace it with. Will stainless steel work? I don't want to risk using screening that will deteriorate when submerged in gas. Has anybody ever replace the screen or filter? if so, how diid you keep the bottom plastic piece from coming off?

The fuel bafel bottom float retainer filter cap has three leg clips that secure the cap
to the bafel bottom. Once gas gets into the bafel, its then in the recirculatory fuel
delivery system until used. Probly the two parts are in tank bottom. I will mail you a cap for free if ya like, just send addy. Bills86e

I was doing a little research on this one, because the bottom of my 94 baffle looks slightly different from whats pictured from different parts suppliers. It apparently looks as though in 94 the baffle didn't have a style of bottom "cap" that could be removed. When I looked at the multiple parts diagrams for 94 speedsters vs 95, the 94 does not show a bottom "fuel filter" where as the 95 diagrams show one and give a P/N. Some companies don't even show availability of 1994 speedster on there lists. I'm going to pull the baffle again and try to post a pic.(I'm gonna need to replace the float, too) Bill, if you think it would fit, I would be grateful.

look at bafel bottom, see is 3 cap click-in holes are there at 120* equally apart. Without cap float would fall out bottom. Also please post in boat section, Thanks.
