Hey everyone, first post here. I'm having some issues with my 95 sp 580. Had it out on the lake all day and it was running fine, then I killed it and it would not restart. Found no spark was the issue. Ran the ohm tests on the mpem and found several readings out of spec. Ordered and installed a new mpem and still no spark. Could someone please give me some advice as to what else to check? First jetski I've owned and only had it a month so I've got alot to learn. Thanks in advance

Also to add, I have never heard the ski make any beeps in the time I've owned it. Now after installing the new mpem, when I put the lanyard on I get 2 beeps and when I pull it off I get one short beef one long beep and another short beep. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the issue.

I will add yet again, I am getting between 5 and 6 volts to the coil via the black wire with red strip while cranking.

I wish I could help but I'm not versed well enough with electrical. I would recommend finding a manual. That at the very least would be able to tell you what the beeps mean.

How much was the MPEM and where did you get it? I had a no spark a couple of times on my 96 SPI. I just released the key and reinstalled at it started right up. I can say this.... I rebuilt my carb with aftermarket kit (my first ski as well) and I had trouble starting right away. The ski fired right up before I rebuilt the carb. After a few problems I found the valves in the fuel pump being the issue so I ordered a new OEM kit which I will install today. Good Luck !!

Correct me if I’m wrong but you shouldn’t have any beeps with a 95 when you place the key. That sounds like a DESS system that was implemented until 1996. I recently had the somewhat of the same problem. Chased wires and metered everything. Come to find out it was a short in my safety switch. Replaced it with one from a boat and now it runs great

I agree, I also have a 95 sp and you shouldn't get beeps when plugging your lanyard in. It sounds like you got the wrong mpem as the beeping started with the later models
