95 Seadoo Idles but won't rev up..... So Frustrated !!!!!!

Well I reset the low/high jet screws to factory specs, high jet wasn't out as bad as i thought, but then the nightmare began as i exposed the rotary valve to check the timing again..... Low and behold the timing was now 45 degrees off, when i had it perfect last night before i took her to the water to see if i needed to adjust anything........I then looked down to see the lower oil line that connects to the bottom of the crank case, and I see silver flakes in the line... So I took the hose off to collect the pieces, and found out that they were not silver but BRASS !!!!! :cuss: ....... After I got done saying some choice words....I have now begun prepping the engine for removal as I will now have to tear down the motor to remove any brass pieces left in the crank case, then check the crankshaft to make sure it's ok....... and then replace the brass gear and reassemble....... anyone have any Tips to help me in my Journey.......

Do you know how old he crank seals are? Or if the motor has been apart before? You may want to consider new crank seals since you'll have the case split. And seeing that compression was at 133 you may want to consider redoing the top end. And again if the engine has not been apart before, or at least recently, you may have some issues with bolts that won't want to come out. If you do, go slow. Go back and forth slowly adding penetrating oil until you can unscrew it all the way out. I had and RV cover bolt snap and a lot other bolts came out very tight. Good luck.

I ordered a new rotary shaft, complete gasket kit, and crankshaft end seals from SBT......... This is all I can afford ATM ...I'm hoping that nothing is wrong with the crank gear itself.....Thanks for the advice....and I will keep everyone posted...... thinking about a top end kit, but I will have to see how the finances are in the next couple of weeks..... For now i will focus on removing, Inspecting, and a thorough cleaning of the motor.......

I am assuming that you are referring to the end crank seals and not the ones in the middle of the crank where the rotary shaft gear is right.... lol... as they would have to be replaced by purchasing a new crankshaft.... lol

If I am not sadly mistaken the high speed jets will not have a huge impact at the low end of the performance range. It definitely sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem. Who rebuilt your carbs? Did they really know what they were doing? These carbs are very critical and must be set to exacting specs. If you are still having issues after you readjust your hi speed jets I highly recommend that you get the carbs off and get someone that really knows what they are doing, like Dr. Honda to rebuild them for you.

Problem is no longer the carbs.....

I appreciate your post but the carbs were rebuilt by myself and are now set to factory specs, low speed jet is set to 1 1/4 turns +/- 1/4 turn, and the high speed has been set to 1/4 turn per the seadoo factory book.... I am sure that Dr. Honda is quite the wiz at PWC either way it does not matter as the problem is the brass gear on the rotary shaft has broken and the jet ski will not stay in time......thus per my recent post you will see that I am now in the process of tearing down the motor to replace the shaft.....:boxing_smiley:

Well today I tore the engine down to find the brass gear was indeed missing chunks, but upon further examination I found the reason for the brass gear being destroyed, It appears that the gear on the crankshaft that moves the rotary shaft has moved .... Now I guess I will have to buy a new crankshaft as I do not have the tools to move the gear back to Its original location... I'm just trying to figure out why It moved.....The pistons look great no scoring other than where the ring gaps are (slight) The cylinder walls look good with no scoring at all......I was wondering if I could just put some new rings on the pistons with some new wrist pin bearings at the piston...as I do not have the money ATM for a complete top end rebuild....

The pistons are stamped 77.94 .... But in trying to get new rings they want to know what size I want (choices are) 0.5mm , 1.0mm , 1.5mm .........I don't know what I should get. It appears that the motor has never been opened up before so It should all be original.

Advice would be greatly appreciated
