Hello,

I just recently became the owner of a 95 GTX. My plan is to convert it over to pre-mix. I was wondering though what type of oil I needed to use. The manual says use nothing but Bombardier Rotax Injection Oil, but seems to be off the market now.

Could I use something like SeaDoo XPS oil or Amsoil INTERCEPTOR 2-Cycle Oil? What would you recommend?

Thanks,
Alex

Pursuant to the weight of authority on this Forum, as well as the guidance set forth in your Sea Doo Operators Guide, you can use any BRAND of oil that is rated API TC Low Ash oil, nothing else.

Depending on where you live dictates which manufacture of oil will be available.

I recently posted a Thread entitled "Rotax Engine Oil Chart' that identified several manufactures of oil that offer an API TC Low Ash oil.

If you are interested, look for that thread.

According to your post the engine like I have would be better off with a mineral oil. With that said should i get the Sea-Doo XP-S 2 Stroke Mineral Oil? What would be a good alternative to this if you had any recomendations?

Most people on here will recommend Quick Silver 2-stroke Mineral Oil. It is avalible at Walmart and perhaps some other places. It is the only one that I found around me (Indiana) that is API-TC Low Ash. Hope this helps.

If your Doo DOES NOT have the RAVE, then based upon the opinions of others I read from other sources than on SDF, your Doo requires mineral oil because of the added lubrication mineral oil provides.

Some very experienced members on this site do not agree with the above comment and recommend using 100% synthetic.

I personally try to avoid using anything with a Sea Doo label on it because in my opinion, SD overcharges for its products.

That said, any replacement has to be equally as good as Sea Doo's parts, including lubricants.

In the area that I live, I can only find Quicksilver PWC s-stroke oil which sells for $29. It is a blend and is $20 less than SD's 100% synthetic oil.

SD 100% mineral costs about $35.

If you read the Post I referred you to, you have all the info you need regarding brands of oil that sell API TC Low Ash oils.

Your next step is convenience. Do you want to spend money on gas running around looking for oil that I posted on my list, ot save the time and gas and just go to your SD dealer and get the SD brand?

The bottom line is, if you Doo does not have the RAVE, just get a jug of SD mineral oil. My 92 GTX has used it since 93 and I never have had a engine problem. That Doo is used 7 days a week, at least 6 hours a day from May to October.

I am now going to change to QS PWC blend because I've been informed that the synthetic blend will be better for my engine and it will be $6 less a gallon than SD, AND fall into my preference not to use SD stuff.
