And I thought...wonder if the fuel gauge will register while charging my new battery?....
So the answer to that thought is, "It would have, but not if you have the lanyard on the kill switch! "....dummy! Then I read all the warnings for my 96 GTS, after 14 years!......Pull the "MPEM" module and associated cabling out of it's rather narrow and hard-to-get-at position, a fast check for fuses, and yep, a 5Amp fuse was blown so I took the drive down to the hardware store to buy a box of fuses, full of hope that it would merely be this 5Amp fuse. Blowing up two more 5A fuses leads me to the conclusion that finally I myself had fallen prey to the age-old RTFM problem.
So here is the kicker...Because our local Canadian Tire no longer sells pre-filled, pre-charged pleasure craft batteries, only ones that you fill and charge yourself, I want to blame them for my problems (just like we blame the cost of backbacon on healthcare reform)...But I digress.. So, because I have to charge the battery I get a little impatient and tried to start the unit, immediately blowing the diode on one of the legs of the 5-Amp fuse. That's what I got from the tests and postings. I have only seen pics of other product being repaired, nothing on a MPEM for a 95 GTS. Does anyone know where the diode is located on the PC board before I dig into the "black dirt"?? It will make it so much easier for me if I knew where to dig for the diode, rather than messing up the whole board. Anyone has a part number or value!!!!!....
I guess that's why all he utilities say the same thing...Call, before you dig!!!
Thanks for any reply,
