95 GTS dies after 5 minutes

My selector was actually good, so I moved onto the check valves and mine worked. Fuel filter had a few small holes. Found a possible crack in the fuel line going into the carb. I may have done it myself pulling it off, but it looked weathered anyway. Pulled carb and found one filter full of gunk. Also looks like a diaphragm might have been leaking as well. Awaiting carb rebuild kit. Will replace fuel lines and inline filter in the meantime, even though mine are not grey, they look old. I am also gonna build that pop off tester tomorrow, that saved me some bucks! This forum has been a great help so far!

OK, I finished the fuel line replacement and also got new selector valve and check valves. Tried it out today and the problem is still there!!!! I was able to get it to idle without dying by screwing the low speed needle valve all the way in. Then it would idle fine for 5 min or more. But it still cut out after some time at speed. It always restarts with one push of the button, but will die again after a few seconds or up to a minute. I have already rebuilt the carb. What else could it be????

Fuel Filter

I bought a 95 GTS last week that had not been run for 8 years.. I had the same problem after doing over the entire fuel system.. Like previously posted I installed an in line filter ansd I was able to run it on OTH for 30 minutes without a problem ( the Pump and shaft are out), I could not get it to pull any fuel before that.. The old girl runs pretty good now, it has an ocassional surge but I think I know where that problem is.. So moral of the story get rid of the old fuel system and things should work much better.. I find that fuel issues are the biggest problem with old skis.. All new stuff works wonders, It's amazing what less than $100.00 in parts will do.. I have aslo found in two of my skis that the fuel switch was a problem.. Nice thing if you get a clear filter you can see when the fuel flows..

I think I have replaced the entire fuel system. Everything is new or thoroughly cleaned - tank, pickups, filter, selector switch, check valves, all fuel line replaced with new hose and clamps, carb rebuilt. That is why I am stuck. Any other thoughts?

I am no expert Sea Doo tech. I can only speak from my experiences restoring 3 doos over the last 3 yrs., and suggest two possible problems.

1. Screwing the LSA in richens the fuel...then you have an air leak somewhere. Possibly at the carb base.

2. Vacuum line cracked, broken...maybe just hanging on or something. Its not pulling enough to get the carb fuel.

P.S.
Screw your HSA all the way in and then open it 1/8 turn or less.

I had the same problem with a 1999 GTS. I replaced all the lines cleaned the carb and selector valve. Still was having problems. I then removed the line that feeds the carb and the pick up line for the on position coming from the fuel tank. Plug the pick up line from the fuel tank and pressurize the line removed from the carb(fuel selector needs to be in on position). You only need about 10 to 15lbs of pressure. If pressure drops you have a leak in the system. Mine was leaking at selector valve connections. I had to replace the spring type clamps I used with the fuel line replacment with screw type clamps. If you are using the spring type clamps it is probally your problem.

I had checked my fuel system for leaks by pressurizing and all was OK. The final solution was replacing the carb with a NOS unit. That fixed the problem and the ski is running great again. I guess I will never know what was wrong inside the carb that the rebuild kit did not fix!!
