I bought this 94 seadoo xp a few months ago. I have had it out on the lake 4 or 5 times with no problems. Today i went out to the lake (there was alot of grassy junk floating around by the docks). I unloaded the ski into the water and it ran fine for a few minutes and then it just started slowing and reving and not moving anymore. My first intial thought was that the ski sucked some of the grassy junk up in it, but i took off the grate under the hull and pulled the grassy junk from it and tried to put it back in the water and it just reved up and wouldnt go anywhere.....any suggestions on what could be wrong, and/or how to fix it?

I have the same problem with a 96 xp

same thing happened yesterday in really ruff water

took the cover off the drive shaft and the front boot is tore up

It moves at idle but as soon as I hit the gas it revs out and doesn't go any faster?

Is there a shear pin or keyway? or is it the spine on the shaft?

Per your diagram, #11 the PTO whywheel is the female splined output to the male driveshaft, to the female pump., Check all your splines. You might be able to pull off the cover and watch the flywheel spin while the driveshaft stays stationary.

Goodluck

yep just got it apart and both are stripped.

anyone know what years would have the same pto and drive shaft?

Is there a way to get the pto off and hold the motor from turning without the flywheel lock??

can I take a plug out and put a rope in the cylider for a piston stop to get the PTO off?

I have heard that method can be used, may require heat, be careful too much can take out the rear seal.

94 XP.....657x? Most all the 657 Flywheels should fit. As for the shaft I think all the x4 hulls are pretty compatible. Someone will jump in if thats wrong. Start with Ebay I'll have a nice flywheel on this week.

My bad, I was looking at the original posters ski, should still be easy. Any 800in a x4 hull. I would take a good look at the carrier bearing, seals and the boots replace anything suspect, none of it is big money. Put new seadoo grease in the zerks, grab the sunscreen and hit the water.

if your boot is ripped and you have a carbone ring wich uses no bearings you are catching air causing your pump to cavitate, i would recommend going with the old school seal bearing carrier. comes with seals 2 bearing and never wears out, all you have to do is keep it greased.
