I need to know what to check, I blew my mpem by putting a 15 amp fuse in the 5 amp slot, but the good news is it made it to the dock, I know i have to replacd the mpem but what will cause the 5 amp fuse to blow after about 10 minutes of running and how do i need to check it.

Shorting Stator, VTS failure (if ya had one) battery cable polartity reversed, over
chargeing with alternating current (jumped batteries from a running veh) Water intrusion. Is the MPEM removed from E-box? Whats the full number on back: 27800....?

I don't have it in front of me, I am new to seadoo skis i jumped this ski with a high amp battery charger right after the top end rebuild could that have damaged something and been causing the fuse to occasionally blow, I read some things on this forum about not doing that after i did it. I will put the part # on here in the morning thanks for reply.

Bill I checked and my ski has a 4 wire stator and is there any way to check the old one I can't find it in the manual if there is.

After you remove flywheel nut, It takes three 4"long x 8mm by 1.25 thread pitch metric bolts that you screw 1/4" into the flywheel to pull the flywheel useing an automotive three slotted harmonic balancer puller. Any deeper they are into the Stator coils behind.

I think your '94 GTX is a 657 engine = 5 wire I could be wrong as in that year,
a change was made.

Your '95 GTX is a 657X engine = 4 wire

These two years are not compatable, and are different. I could be wrong.

Stator is behind the flywheel, pick-up magnets are in the F/W.

I might be missing a wire but i think mine has a 4 wire i just don't want to pull it if it is not the problem. I am going to replace the mpem and try it unless I can come up with a way to check the stator I ohmed it looks good went through all the checks I can come up with I will not put too big a fuse in thes mpem if it blows again just tow it back in and then replace the stator if i have too unless you think this is a bad idea. Is the only way to check the stator to pull it and do a visual?

looking in the manual it shows the 94 xp has a 5 wire and gtx has a 4 wire you don't know where i can find this part # do you.

if your ohms are close to the manual spec then you will need a oscilloscope to check things any farther. there are so many other possiablities you need to check.

anyone know where the link to the mpem depotting for the burried fuse is??

as far as jumping those batteries from a running vehicle, the only reason that makes sense to me about that is voltage spikes from the connection / disconnection as the battery has plenty of amps to blow the mpem without jumping and a circuit only draws what it needs.

It was right on spec from the maual for ohms. That is why i am going to put a new mpem in and see what it does the ski was not blowing this fuse before we hooked the battery charger to it and used it to start it up, I just don;t want to do alot of unnecessary work but also don't want to destroy another mpem so I won't put a 15 amp fuse where a 5 was supposed to go,, Sometimes it cost to be hard headed and aggrivated at the same time.

Depotted mpem

Read the How-to section, and this pictured link post. I may have a
diode in the shop if you need me to find it, LMK. Bill

I have newer style mpem pics, Otheres are in How-to section.

I replaced my mpem and then found that the fuel gauge was shorting out and blowing the 5 amp fuse the ski is running fine now thanks for the help.
